- Gather the Necessary Tools

You will need an oil filter wrench, socket set, oil drain pan, funnel, new oil filter, and the recommended type and amount of oil for your vehicle. It's best to have all these tools on hand before starting to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
- Preparing Your Car for an Oil Change
To prepare your car for an oil change, park it on level ground and engage the parking brake. Open the hood and remove the oil filler cap. Locate the oil filter and oil drain plug underneath the car. Place the oil drain pan underneath the drain plug to catch the old oil.
- Drain the Old Oil
Remove the oil drain plug using a socket set and let the old oil drain into the oil pan.
Be careful, as the oil may still be hot.
Once the oil has fully drained, replace the drain plug and tighten it with a socket set.
